What an amazing year for Nigerian super star Wizkid. For Wizkid everything was a hit back to back, from “Baba Nla” to “Daddy Yo” and everything in between.
Hard work pays off and Wizkid has to be one of the biggest beneficiaries this year. For Wizkid it has been one milestone to the other, first you get enlisted on one of the biggest songs on a worldwide scale (Drake’s One Dance), to signing a record deal with Sony Music. Many promising international collaborations already in the works. That is the zenith for about any contemporary Nigerian artiste now, and Wizkid can happily say “been there, done that”.
Apparently, Wizkid once tweeted he has been on the road for two years. Come on, that takes a good measure of work and the “Oguelegba” crooner paid it in full.
Look at what we have now, Wizkid is arguably the biggest African artiste on the planet. Star boy has had a lean personal discography this year safe for collaborations, but awards keep rolling in for the 26-year-old singer.
Let’s say 2016 been the year of Wizkid. Starboy has has mopped up awards from London to Nigeria, Ghana to South Africa. Only this year Wizkid has bagged 10 major awards more than some artistes will have in their entire careers.
